Bernadette Lehmann has been a practicing massage therapist at Performance Health Center, (formally Chiropractic Healthcare), since 1989.  She graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA. with 1400 hours of training, and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. In addition she is Nationally Certified by the Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work. Before coming to Chiropractic Health Care, she was trained as a Physical Therapist Assistant, and a Recreational Therapist for the state of Hawaii.

Bernadette first discovered the benefits of chiropractic care at the age of 18 when she had back surgery. Ever since that experience, she has wanted to help others to be able to manage the discomfort and limitations manifested by pain.  In spite of her physical ailments, she has kept very active by participating in triathlons, biathlons and half marathons.  She currently plays team tennis and does regular outdoor and indoor cycling. She has a vast educational background in the many areas of treatment available in the field of massage and muscular therapy.

In the past three years, Bernadette has attended regional conferences of the American Massage Association, ethics seminars, workshops in Cranio Sacral Therapy, and has had extensive work in Active Isolated Stretching with Aaron Mattes. All of these enable her to provide better and more varied methods of treatment to better treat her clients individually.

In addition to her work at Performance Health Center, Bernadette has been a massage therapist for six years at the National USTA Senior Women’s Grass Court National Championships, for the Forest Hills Sony Ericson Women’s WTA Tour in 2006, for the New England Women’s Intersectional Tennis Team for six years, and for United States Women’s Team at the Senior International Tennis Federation World Team Championships in 2004.

In addition, Bernadette has been one of the massage therapists for the Professional Musical Tours - working with Aerosmith, Dashboard Confessions and Oz Fest. Over the years she has seen her clients improve in both their physical comfort and mobility, as well as in their total “well being”.  She is a very dedicated and sensitive therapist to everyone’s needs and it gives her much satisfaction in helping people and seeing their overall improvement.
